Quick Start:
- Connect your controller via USB or Bluetooth
- Click "Connect Controller" if not automatically detected
- Don't touch the analog sticks initially
- Watch for any movement - red warnings indicate drift
Understanding Stick Drift
Stick drift occurs when analog sticks register movement without being touched.
This is one of the most common controller problems, especially in heavily used controllers.
Signs of Drift:
- Character moves without input
- Camera rotates on its own
- Menu selections change automatically
- Difficulty aiming precisely
- Stick doesn't return to center
Common Causes:
- Worn potentiometers
- Dust and debris buildup
- Damaged springs
- Manufacturing defects
- Liquid damage
Testing Process
1. Initial Drift Test
Don't touch the controller after connecting. Any stick movement shown is drift.
- Blue dot should stay centered
- Values should read 0.00 or very close
- Red warning appears if drift detected
2. Full Range Test
Move each stick in full circles and to all extremes.
- Check for smooth movement
- Verify full range (-1.00 to 1.00)
- Test diagonal positions
- Look for dead spots or jumping
3. Return-to-Center Test
Push stick to edge and release quickly.
- Stick should snap back to center
- Values should return to 0.00
- No oscillation or slow return
